Trainee Programs at Sanderson Farms
One of the best ways to become part of the Sanderson Farms family is to become a Trainee through our Corporate Trainee Program. This program is designed to help you build a working knowledge of our overall operations as you become part of our management team.
As a Trainee, you will be able to:
- Get hands-on experience
- Have an understanding of how we operate and why we follow specific procedures
- Observe different management styles, choose the styles most appropriate to you and incorporate these into your own personal style of management.
- Get paid. All Trainee Positions are Paid Salary Positions.

Sanderson Farms offers seven distinct training tracks:

Beginning Trainee Program
The Beginning Trainee Program offers trainees the opportunity of development, training and supervising experiences at all levels of the organization, from breeder/hatchery operations to slaughter operations.
-Bachelor degree is required
-Must be mobile and willing to relocate
-Trainee works in one of the Processing or Production facilities
-Trainee will work closely with Supervisors and Managers and learn management skills and gain knowledge about the poultry industry and Sanderson Farms.
-This is an entry level position for the trainee to gain the skills and knowledge they need to become Supervisors and above in our facilities.
-The Trainee reports to the Division Manager where the Trainee is assigned.
-The needs of the company will determine where trainees are assigned.
-Trainees are required to work where and when needed.

Accounting Trainee Program
The Accounting Trainee will work in all areas of our business, including grow-out, slaughter, payables, accounts receivable, tax, and audit. The trainee will gain a comprehensive understanding of all operations.
-Accounting degree is required
-Trainee will work in the Processing plant and also in the Accounting Department.
-This is for the trainee to gain the skills and knowledge the employee needs to become a Chief Accountant, Cost Accountant, or another position in the Accounting Department.

Audit Accounting Trainee Program
The Audit Accounting Trainee will work closely with the Senior Staff Auditor and Chief Auditor to learn all areas of our business accounting procedures, including corporate and production accounting functions.
-Accounting degree is required or related degree
-Trainees are located out of the Corporate Office in Laurel, MS
-This Program is for the Trainee to gain the skills and knowledge the trainee needs to become an Auditor or another position in the Audit Department.

Personnel Trainee Program
As a Personnel Trainee you will initially work in the field, learning the company’s operations first hand, then move into employee relations, personnel, safety, risk, benefits and human resources. During your training you will also work with the Field Employee Relations Manager at our processing and production facilities.
-Bachelor degree in HR or related field is required
-Trainees are located out of the Corporate Office in Laurel, MS
-Must be mobile and willing to relocate
-Trainees will work in the Processing plant and also in the Human Resource Department.
-This is for the trainee to gain the skills and knowledge they need to become a Field Employee Relations Manager, Personnel Supervisor or another position in the Human Resource area.

Maintenance Trainee Program
Hired to work in all areas of Sanderson Farms’ processing plants, the Maintenance Trainee will initially get hands-on experience in the following areas: Hanging, Picking, Evisceration, Packing/Specialty, Debone, and Shipping/Freezing/Chilling as well as Sanitation.
-2 year Associate degree in Technical field
-Trainee works in one of the Processing Facilities

Shop Trainee Program
The Shop Trainee will be trained in the safe and efficient diagnosis and repair of all vehicles used by Sanderson Farms. Training will include general shop skills, preventative maintenance, recordkeeping, loader repairs, hydraulics, feed trailer repair and preparation for a Commercial Driver’s License.
-2 year Associate degree in Technical field or equivalent experience
- Trainee works in one of the Production facilities in the Truck Shop

Advanced Trainee Program
Potential candidates within the company or outside of Sanderson Farms may be recruited for the Advanced Trainee Program. The Advanced Trainee Program offers trainees the opportunity for advanced development, training and supervising experiences at advanced levels within the company, including breeder / hatchery operations, slaughter operations, and other levels of management to name a few.
-Bachelor degree is required or equivalent experience.
-This Trainee is interviewed by a member of the Executive Committee.
