From the beginning, Sanderson Farms has been an honest, down-to-earth leader in the chicken business – one that emphasized family values long before it was a trend to do so. The company actually began in 1947 as a farm supply business, which sold seed, feed, fertilizer, and other farm supplies. In 1951, D.R. Sanderson, Sr., D.R. Sanderson, Jr., and Joe Frank Sanderson organized a partnership under the name of "Sanderson Brothers." During the next few years, poultry production was added to the business. Then, in 1955, Sanderson Farms was incorporated, and the company, which started as a feed and seed store, began the rise to becoming the top-quality chicken producer we are today.

Sanderson Farms, ranked among the top four poultry producers in the country, currently employs over 9,700 people and contracts with over 700 independent growers. Our facilities are highly modernized, utilizing the most advanced, most proficient technology and techniques available. This allows Sanderson Farms to continuously implement new processes that will bring our customers fast, efficient service and fresh, high-quality products that are second-to-none.
